After the breakup of the Twin Thieves, Brett Stewart set to work on a new solo project under the moniker of 'Underground Oceans.' The music was another significant creative leap for Stewart, resulting in new renditions of some classic Twin Thieves songs and many new songs as well.
'High Waters' was the first of the two Underground Oceans albums. During this period of his work, Stewart experimented heavily with new methods of production. Many of the lyrics from the 'High Waters' project were also adapted from public domain works that hadn't been touched for nearly two centuries.
